Psychography is a new site specific performance by the visual arts group the Icelandic Love Corporation made in collaboration with artists from various fields of art including dance, choreography, theatre, music, film and more.

The work takes places in an old house and its surroundings where the atmosphere and circumstances of the house is explored through different mediums and actions. It is a journey from the sleepless never ending noise of today’s life to the calmness of the growing grass of nature and inner self.

Most houses are filled with stories of the people that live there or have passed through dead or alive. We capture the soul of the house, the self and it’s psychography and give it life through performance – drawing on the different experiences of the artists and the audience who take part in the building, the atmosphere and the aura of the work.

THE ICELANDIC LOVE CORPORATION (ILC) is a group that was established in 1996 by three woman artists: Jóní Jónsdóttir (1972) Eirún Sigurdardóttir (1971) and Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir (1973). www.ilc.is.

For the past twenty years, The Icelandic Love Corporation has actively and successfully worked in the field of visual art, both at home and abroad, using nearly all possible media—including performance, video, photography, and installation—the ILC confronts the seriousness of the art world with works that blend playfulness, humor and spectacle with refreshing genuineness and subtle social critique. Their art and performance often incorporates ideas of traditional femininity, but they are always women on their own terms. The ILC has held numerous solo and group exhibitions, in addition to having performed small and large scale performances at various venues, such as museums, galleries, and festivals. The members of the ILC have lived and studied in New York, Berlin, Copenhagen, and are currently based in Reykjavík.
