A call out to all movement lovers, dance enthusiasts, budding performance artists, the living and the curious – this is an invitation to a workshop with one of the world’s leading experimental dance performance groups contact Gonzo.

The workshop is free of charge and open to anyone with enough curiosity and ambition to participate. The workshop will run everyday in the afternoons from 23. - 28. August.

The workshop will culminate in a short performance as part of Everybody’s Spectacular 2016 on Sunday in the Reykjavik Art Museum.

Emanating from Osaka, Japan, this group takes dance to its physical limits in a way that combines improvisational physical contact with legendary “gonzo” aesthetics. Having shown in MoMa (New York), Impuls Tanz  (Vienna), Spring Dance (Utrecht), Kyoto Experiment (Kyoto), among many other places – it is safe to say their work is recognised and appreciated around the world and now having shown their work in Reykjavík Dance Festival in 2013, they return to the city to present a new project that brings their special approach to the body into conversation with members of the general public.

They work in public sites mountains, rivers, galleries, museums, theaters  and alleys around the world, with performances that may seem either like a street mosh or a sophisticated dance.

Now they come to Reykjavík to work with people from the city for 5 days leading to a short performance in Listasafn Reykjavík on Sunday 28th August.

If you would like to sign up for the workshop please contact Kara at kara@rekjavikdancefestival.is for more details. And be sure to sign up quick a places are limited.
